Vertical 03 · Predict

Move beyond historical data. Predict what comes next.

Forecasting, machine learning and statistical models that help you anticipate demand, understand customers and make evidence-based decisions.

The challenge

Reports tell you what happened.
Not what happens next.

Historical reporting is essential, but on its own it keeps decisions reactive. Prediction turns the same data into a view of what’s likely ahead.

01

Planning on gut feel

Stock, staffing and budgets are set from last year’s numbers plus a guess.

02

Reacting too late

Customers leave and demand shifts before anyone notices the warning signs.

03

One size fits all

Every customer gets the same offer, even though their needs and value differ widely.

04

Untested decisions

Pricing and campaign changes go live without evidence of what actually works.

What changes

From looking back to planning ahead.

Models don’t replace judgement. They give your team a clearer, quantified view of what’s likely, so decisions rest on evidence.

See what’s coming

Forecasts with a clear range of likely outcomes, not a single number to hope for.

Better planning

Stock, staff and budgets set from forecasts rather than last year plus a guess.

Earlier warnings

Churn, demand shifts and risks flagged while there’s still time to act.

Sharper targeting

Offers and service matched to customer segments, not a single average customer.

Evidence-based choices

Tested changes to pricing and campaigns, with results you can measure.

Solution areas

Five services.
One forward view.

We pick the simplest model that solves the problem well, and explain how it works in plain language.

Demand Forecasting

Predict future sales, demand and business requirements.

  • Sales, demand and revenue forecasts
  • Time-series models

Machine Learning

Develop models for classification, regression and pattern detection.

  • Churn and lead scoring
  • Classification and regression

Customer Segmentation

Group customers based on behaviour and business characteristics.

  • Clustering and segmentation
  • Customer lifetime value

Recommendation Systems

Build personalised product, content and service recommendations.

  • Recommendation engines
  • Next-best product or offer

Statistical Modelling

Apply statistical techniques for hypothesis testing and optimisation.

  • Hypothesis and A/B testing
  • Pricing and resource optimisation
What you get

Models you can
understand and trust.

No black-box magic. You see how a model performs, why it makes its predictions and how to use them day to day.

  • A clearly framed prediction problem tied to a business decision
  • A validated model, tested on data it hasn’t seen before
  • Accuracy measured against a simple baseline, so the gain is clear
  • An explanation of the main drivers behind the predictions
  • Predictions delivered where you work: a dashboard, file or API
  • Documentation, plus guidance on when to retrain the model
Typical use cases

Where prediction earns its keep.

Examples of the kind of work this vertical covers. Every project is shaped around your data and the decision it supports.

Retail & E-commerce

Weekly demand forecasts by product and store

Better stock decisions, with fewer stock-outs and less excess inventory.

How we work

From a business question to a model in use.

We prove value early with a simple baseline, then improve only where the extra accuracy is worth it.

  1. 01Frame

Define the decision, the prediction that supports it and how success is measured.

  2. 02Explore

Assess your data, find the patterns and set a simple baseline to beat.

  3. 03Model

Build and compare candidate models, keeping the simplest one that performs well.

  4. 04Validate

Test on unseen periods and review results and drivers with your team.

  5. 05Deploy

Deliver predictions into your workflow and agree how the model is monitored.

Ways to start

Prove the value first, then scale what works.

Every engagement is fixed in scope and quoted after a short discovery, so you know what you’re getting before work begins.

Data readiness check

Find out whether your data can support the prediction you need.

Best for: exploring whether prediction fits
  • Review of available data and history
  • Assessment of the most promising use cases
  • A clear recommendation and next steps

Most common

Proof of value

One model for one decision, tested on your real data.

Best for: a specific, high-value question
  • Framed problem and success measure
  • Validated model versus a baseline
  • Results walkthrough and go / no-go
Discuss a proof of value

Production model

A model delivering predictions in your workflow, with monitoring.

Best for: scaling a proven use case
  • Automated scoring or forecasting runs
  • Delivery to a dashboard, file or API
  • Monitoring and a retraining plan
Discuss a production model
Technologies

Open, well-tested data science tools.

We favour established, widely used libraries, so your models are easy to maintain and not tied to one vendor.

FAQ

Common questions

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.

How much data do we need?

It depends on the problem. Forecasting usually needs enough history to show seasonal patterns, often a couple of years. Other models can work with less. A short readiness check gives you a clear answer.

How accurate will the model be?

We can’t promise a number before seeing your data. We always measure accuracy on data the model hasn’t seen and compare it with a simple baseline, so you can judge the real improvement.

Will we understand how it works?

Yes. We explain the main drivers behind the predictions in plain language and prefer simpler, explainable models wherever they perform well.

What if our data isn’t ready?

We’ll tell you early. Often the first step is a clean, connected dataset, which is what our Data Engineering work provides.
